Location

From the fun-packed Laganas resort to the serene Pantokratoras village and the quaint Zante town, all the major points of interest are basically at your doorstep.

Local Markets & Shopping

Laganas has plenty of souvenir and beachwear shops to browse, as well as a couple of mini-markets for daily essentials. The neighbouring resort of Kalamaki is almost an extension of Laganas, but has a much more laid-back vibe, still with many shops and places to eat, and can be reached in 5 minutes by car. Zante town is also full of stores with a variety of local products, souvenirs, and other items.

Bars and restaurants

There is a good choice of both modern and traditional restaurants which are dotted around the resort and also along the beach where you can enjoy your lunch or an evening meal overlooking the sea. Well-known for its lively nightlife, you’ll find many bars and clubs along the main street, but if you just want to relax, then venture into any of the smaller side roads to find several more relaxed cocktail bars. Many streets around the centre aren’t paved, so it may be easier to drive.

Beaches

The main street of Laganas runs all the way to the beachfront, which then extends right up into neighbouring Kalamaki to the east, and almost into Agios Sostis to the west. It only takes 5 minutes to drive down to the coast, where a choice of great beachfront bars offer a relaxed ambience. Sunbeds and parasols are available and you can even hire a pedalo or join in with a sightseeing boat trip to catch a glimpse of the Caretta-Caretta Turtles swimming around the bay!

Family fun

There are plenty of fun family activities and attractions within a short drive. Laganas and Kalamaki both have mini-golf facilities. The Caretta Fun Park in Kalamaki is also great for smaller children. Sarakinado Water Village in Zante is sure to be a hit with children of all ages, or take a 30 minutes’ drive south to St. Nick’s Beach which has jet skis, parasailing, ringo rides and banana boats!

Places of interest

Laganas is only 8 kilometers from the island capital, Zante Town, which is well worth seeing during your stay. The town has a wealth of shops and places to eat around the square and lining the harbour. Venture up the hill to the remains of the Venetian castle at Bochali and enjoy the fantastic views over the east coast. Further north, around an hour’s drive from Villa Hill, is the beautiful little village of Volimes, which has various craft and gift shops to browse. And no trip to Zante would be complete without visiting the famous Shipwreck Beach. The beach is only accessible by boat but there is a viewing platform overlooking the beach and wreck at the top of the cliff – don’t forget your camera!
